Hounds of the Highlands - July 20th

The past week or so has gone much as usual.  Weather still not very summery and raining quite a lot. We somehow manage to avoid most of the showers onour walks though with the grass being so long, feet and jeans inevitably get soaked.  The grass in the field is getting ridicuously long but we are reluctant to cut it until the orchids and other wild flowers have seeded.  The paths are still being cut so it's not too bad.

Having a good sniff - must be a deer around!

On our walks Maja is nearly always ahead of us.  She is very good and is always checking to see where we are before heading off again.  Here she looks decidedly bored waiting for us.

 Time to annoy Kobe!

Having a splash and a shake!

Every picture tells a story! - I was practicing a stay with the two RRs whilst Hamish caught up with us. I was concentrating so hard attempting to get Maja to stay that it wasn’t until I had taken the photo that I noticed that Hamish had crept up on us and was doing exactly as I asked.  More than can be said for herself!

Is she practising her show stand - I doubt it.

A tasty crab that had been washed up on the shore had to be investigated!

Weather not too good - and they were not too keen to leave a nice cosy bed.

One of the bridges we cross - suprisingly they all take it in their stride.

 Another bridge safely crossed.

 Annoying Hamish!

Hounds of the Highlands - 12th July

A bad week weather wise - very wet and a confined Maja does not lead to good behaviour!  There was one day when I felt the only words I said to her was "leave" and "no"!
If we can't find her in the garden she is either pinching something or with her friend Hamish.

A walk along the coast - Kobe and Maja running together.for the sheer pleasure of it.  The old boy can still outrun her though!

On a rabbit hunt - it must be somewhere!

An oystercatcher skimming the waves

Playtime on the beach can sometimes lead to trouble - luckily Maja is agile enough to get herself out of a tricky situation - just!!!

The middle one hasn't quite learnt a wait yet!

Home again but walking is thirsty work!

Wonder who the culprit is?

Hounds of the Highlands - July 5th

Had a pretty good week weather wise and Maja is back to normal.  Walks are back to normal too,  although I have been tending to avoid the forests and keep her on even ground for now.

We had a lovely walk along the shore the other day .  Quite a contrast in shipping out there in the Firth!

Hamish checking out whether there were any rabbits about!

Nice to see them playing again though sometimes the expressions caught on camera can be misleading.

Poor Hamish is getting a bald patch around his tail and if you look at Maja's mouth you can see why!

The sea was lovely and calm but Maja wasn't sure about the waves. As soon as one came in she jumped back

Kobe however decided it was hot enough to paddle. Maja took a bit of convincing but she soon got the hang of it and seemed to enjoy herself in the end.

Plane spotting also kept her amused for a bit.

Maja continues to be naughty at times, but is great fun and does make us laugh.  Below she is checking out the shopping in the back seat of the car!

Another nice walk was up on the moors with Gem the boxer dog  The grouse season starts next month but we didn't spot one grouse up there and I suspect if they were around  the dogs would have found them!

Lots of lovely wild  Orchids
